As the world becomes more interconnected, global affairs are becoming a major part of people’s daily lives. This interdisciplinary field covers issues ranging from international security and foreign policy to environmental sustainability, human rights and peacebuilding. It is a great choice for students who are interested in careers in government, nongovernmental organizations and international business.

CFR organizes more than one hundred on-the-record events, conference calls and podcasts that bring together senior government officials, prominent thinkers and global leaders to discuss pressing international issues. It also sponsors more than fifty student-run research projects and a number of policy task forces, in which small groups of students apply their academic training to a specific global issue.
This 30 credit program provides advanced understanding of the processes, institutions and challenges of today’s global system. Students will examine how a range of domestic, regional and international factors shape relations between governments, with nongovernmental organizations and private enterprise. Students will also develop the analytical and methodological tools necessary to understand global trends and dynamics in areas spanning international law, security, development, trade and diplomacy.
